First: are you signed in?
Multi-device sync requires being signed in to your account. If you are using FolderTube without signing in, your folders are stored locally on that browser only — there is nothing to sync, by design, and that is expected behavior rather than a bug.
- Open the FolderTube sidebar by clicking the purple button on YouTube.
- Check whether you are signed in. If you see a sign-in prompt, that is the reason changes are not appearing on other devices.
- Sign in with the same account on every device you want your folders to appear on.
Problem 1: Folders don't show up on a second device
If you have built out folders on one computer and they are not appearing on another, the most common cause is being signed in to a different account on the second device, or not being signed in at all.
- On the second device, open the FolderTube sidebar and confirm you are signed in with the exact same account used on the first device.
- If you are signed in but the folders still do not match, reload the YouTube tab. Sync is fast but not always instant, and a stale tab can still be showing an older state.
- Confirm you have an active internet connection on both devices — sync happens over the network, so an offline device cannot pull the latest state.
Add real folders to YouTube
FolderTube is free to install. Drag your subscriptions into folders and finally find what you actually want to watch.
Add to ChromeProblem 2: The Sync button doesn't pull in new channels
Newly subscribed YouTube channels do not appear in FolderTube automatically the moment you subscribe. They get pulled in the next time you press the Sync button in the sidebar. If you subscribed to a channel on YouTube and it is not showing up in FolderTube yet, pressing Sync again is the fix, not a bug report.
- Open the FolderTube sidebar.
- Press the Sync button to pull your current YouTube subscription list.
- New channels should appear as unassigned — drag them into a folder once they show up.
If pressing Sync does not pull in a channel you know you are subscribed to, double-check that you are subscribed on the same Google account that is signed in to YouTube in that browser tab.
Other things to rule out
- Network connectivity — sync requires a working internet connection on both the device making the change and the device expecting to see it.
- An outdated extension version — update FolderTube via chrome://extensions if you have not restarted your browser in a while.
- A browser tab that was open before you signed in — close and reopen the YouTube tab after signing in so it picks up the current state.
Sync covers folders, not your subscription list itself
FolderTube syncs the folder structure and channel assignments it manages. Your actual YouTube subscription list is owned by your Google account, not by FolderTube. If a channel is missing from YouTube itself, that is a separate issue from FolderTube sync.
